We’re fostering, Lady, this sweet little 4-year old Cockapoo mix, until Christmas. She’s perfectly house and crate trained, great with other dogs, quiet, and adoptable from Bonnie Blue Rescue. A great Christmas present…
Very cool video. May have to learn how to make them this big and do this myself. Looks unreal.

A great video about the place I now call home.
Just came across some interesting stuff that Kevin Burg & Jamie Beck are doing with moving photographs. It’s a very interesting technique where rather inconspicuous parts of a photo, like a strand of hair or an eye, move. Check the rest out here. Definitely something I want to try out in the near future. Some examples are below.

This is a photo of a technique I saw online and wanted to test out. Basically, you take a glass table, spray RainX on it, then spray water on top of that. Then you put whatever you’d like to magnify underneath the glass table, adjust focus and voila! This specific picture is actually an HDR image, which means I took the same photo at different exposures and then adjusted the three to preserve highlights and shadows within the image.
You can do it with pretty much anything. I did it with a VV bag I had lying as well, which you can see below.

Took this one on the plane on the way back from STL. Our plane got delayed and didn’t end up taking off until later into the night, so I’m pretty sure everyone on the plane was thoroughly annoyed with my shutter clicks while trying to capture some good shots of a thunderstorm at night from a mile high.

I was just experimenting a little with light and water and decided to throw some of both onto a the back of a DVD. This is what I got. To put it in perspective, the little drop is maybe half of the size of a grain of sand.
This “video” was made up of thousands of drawings loosely based on the same outline that were submitted by Johnny Cash fans. Fans were allowed to depict the Man in Black however they wanted to based on the outlines given. The visitor to the site can then choose between top rated, editor’s choice, and other option and they string the user submitted art together into the video you see here. Check it out and don’t forget to visit the The Johnny Cash Project.
Pretty cool video.

What better way to start off a photoblog than with a blank canvas?

Along the James is regularly updated by me, Charles M. Kelley. I was born a few miles from where the James River starts in western Virginia and now live a stone's throw away from where it passes through Virginia's capital, Richmond, hence the site's title, "Along the James". First and foremost, this a photoblog where I can share the photography of the places, people and things I photograph. From time to time, I might also share some tidbits of technology and design that I find interesting. Enjoy!
